Beauty Etiquette 101

Written by Dawn Maloney

December is full of social activities. So many parties, dinners, and get-togethers with friends, family, and total strangers. No matter how relaxed or fancy these events may be, we need to keep it classy, by remembering to use good beauty etiquette. Etiquette is something that is appreciated by others. It is polite and considerate and never fails. Here are my top 3 No-No's to avoid when attending your next holiday soiree.

  1. Don’t put makeup on in public. Some things are meant to be done in private and not at this year’s festive table. Need a touch-up? Excuse yourself and use the powder room. No one wants to watch your latest makeup techniques: save that for the MakeupClasses YouTube channel.

  2. Don’t kiss off your lips on someone’s face. Especially if you’re wearing your favorite Christmas red. We all want to make a great impression on our guests, but you don’t need to leave it on their faces. Air kisses are definitely in vogue and greatly appreciated rather than stamping your pucker on friends’ cheeks.

  3. Don’t pick your skin or nails. Not only is it super unhealthy, but it’s unsanitary. No one wants to see your bad habits in public. Exfoliate your skin before applying your makeup to avoid itchy skin and heal acne. Carry a nail file for nail emergencies and address them in the restroom, not in the middle of cocktail hour.

The holiday season is the perfect time to express your glamorous self. Be more impressive by following simple beauty etiquette tips this season and always. Cheers, hugs, and air kisses from all of us at The Makeup Studio!
