College students look at their schedule for classes they need to attend, I look at my schedule for the clients, events, and trade shows I will attend.
To dip even just a toe in the business world can overwhelm anyone, myself included. From out of high school, with no direction on where to move next genuinely horrified me.
However, I did not let the way I felt hold me back from the goal I was so determined to accomplish. The idea of networking at events intimidated me especially if I am the youngest person in the room. Although I am feeling these emotions, I do not allow them to consume me. I learn through experience, if I make a mistake I figure out a way to go about it more efficiently so that my mistakes do not repeat themselves.
Although I did not commit to any colleges, I can confidently say that I do not need a physical piece of paper to determine if I am worthy enough to even be in the field of business. Only I can determine if I am worthy, and with the right mentality, confidence, and dedicated research, I can and will become successful
Guide To Overcome Self Doubt
Research
Familiarize yourself with the materials you are going to need to become successful .
Write down detailed questions to ensure proper research, as you will answer them yourself.
Keep a journal to jot down important notes to look back at.
Handling the Room
Remind yourself that everyone started as a beginner.
Focus on listening more than speaking to learn from others.
If you are confused and have no access to the internet do not be afraid to speak up and ask.
Growth Through Action
Treat every awkward moment as a lesson, not a failure.
Take notes on what went well and what did not so that you can improve.
Set one small goal for the next event to keep moving forward.
