This is something I hear often during the Halloween season, and understood! While being in a costume all day or night could be uncomfortable, expensive, or just not your thing, you don’t have to dress up or go all out to still have fun celebrating Halloween!
It also doesn’t have to be so complicated. You’d be surprised how many pieces we already own to put together a simple costume, just in our closets alone! You have a little black dress and red lipstick in your makeup collection? Boom - vampire! Cat! Witch! Anything! Platforms like YouTube, Pinterest, and TikTok have a ton of inspiration for looks like this, and it really just depends on what your personal preference or style is. Looking up something like “Simple Halloween costume” is a great guide to help you in utilizing what you already have in your closet or makeup collection to put together a cute, simple, fun costume or Halloween look.
If you’re more of a lowkey person and don’t like to go through putting together a costume at all, or just simply don’t have the time, makeup is your best friend! In my college years, whenever my job threw a Halloween party, I used to focus on my makeup, rather than what I was wearing, and the looks were always a hit between my coworkers, and our clients as well!
Playing around with fun eyeliner looks, colorful eyeshadows, or even some inexpensive face paints from the Halloween section at your local department store can really amplify your Halloween look. Get creative! Practice on yourself a few times before Halloween to really perfect your craft! Makeup is so subjective and has no rules, and Halloween season is really the perfect time to let your creative juices start flowing!
