The Makeup Artist’s Design Book, written by Dawn Maloney, just hit its one month anniversary, and we are so humbled and always grateful for the immense amount of support we’ve been receiving!
This book is perfect for all makeup lovers. Whether you’re just starting your makeup journey, or well into your professional makeup career, this is an amazing and important addition to your kit.
As a professional makeup artist, this book is a staple in my kit, especially when meeting new clients. It’s especially perfect for every makeup artist to have, because it does the work for you. There are so many different types of face shapes, eye shapes, and lip shapes (50, 32, and 36 to be exact). As makeup artists, it is our job to assure our clients feel like the best version of themselves once they leave your chair. This book has definitely helped guide me in the right direction with clients and where exactly I should place the makeup on their face in order to achieve the looks that best suits them.
Because there are so many different eye shapes, face shapes, and lip shapes, different makeup looks may not be suitable for different facial combinations. This is where The Makeup Artist’s Design Book comes in handy. The book contains different face charts, where you can practice on where to place the makeup for different face/eye/lip shapes, and has completed charts as well showing you what looks work best for each facial shape.
Anatomical makeup works! It makes a huge difference as a makeup artist to see the final product be symmetrical and complimentary to the client’s face, rather than just being a specific “look”. The Makeup Studio has an anatomical makeup class coming up this Sunday, August 3rd, and we’d love to see some new faces learn the magic of anatomical makeup. The class is free with the purchase of our book/ the ticket price includes the book! We look forward to seeing you there!
