There is something magical about a snow day. The world slows down, and suddenly your schedule is clear. Before you make a home on the couch, set aside some time to dedicate to a self-care routine and turn your snow day into a glow-day.
Step 1: Ultimate Skin Reset
A snow day is the perfect time to focus on your skin health, especially in the winter, which often leads to drier skin.
Start with a gentle cleanser to remove any makeup or excess buildup your skin may have. Follow that with light exfoliation to remove any dead skin cells and smooth texture. Next, apply a hydrating face mask and cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and some hot chocolate while you wait.
Finish it off with your favorite moisturizer to lock in the moisture and keep your skin looking healthy and bright.
Layering hydrating products provides a great layer of protection from the harsh winter air.
Step 2: Makeup Brush Reset
Cleaning the tools you use daily is part of caring for yourself. It is important to keep your makeup tools clean and sanitized to keep bacteria off your face.
Check out The Importance of Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes for in-depth information and tips on how to clean makeup brushes properly!
Sanitize your brushes by using a gentle cleanser or brush cleaner and just a few minutes of your time. Gently swirl the brush around in the cleanser and rinse until the water runs clear. Reshape the bristles back to their original shape and lay them flat to dry.
This small step makes a huge difference and will leave you with healthy skin and a smooth application.
Step 3: Hair Hydration
The cold weather doesn’t just leave your skin dry — protecting your hair is just as important.
To rehydrate your hair, first apply rosemary oil directly to the scalp using your fingers, a brush, or a scalp massager, and massage the oil into the scalp for 5–10 minutes.
Rosemary oil is great for hair as it stimulates hair follicle growth while increasing blood circulation, which can reduce dandruff and strengthen the follicles.
Apply a deep conditioning mask to the ends of the hair and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse your hair, then apply your favorite shampoo and conditioner.
You’ll be left with soft, shiny hair that’s able to withstand the conditions outside your window.
Step 4: Take a Moment to Slow Down
Snow days are meant to be enjoyed. Every day we are constantly moving faster and checking off items on a to-do list. Take some time today to disconnect and really focus on yourself.
Find a quiet place where you can relax and wind down. Set the mood by lighting a candle, getting into some comfy pajamas, and playing calming music.
