The Makeup Industry in the Summer

The holidays and wedding season are over…now what? You might be asking yourself... As a makeup artist, should I be taking the summer off like everyone else? 

The summer is a great time to go on vacation and get the rest and relaxation you truly deserve. We all need to regroup so we can start the busy seasons strong. It is very important to take time out from our busy schedules. 

I know that I always give my mind and body time to rest in the beginning of the summer, and then towards the end while at the beach or another tranquil environment, I will then look into the upcoming trends for the season and put a new business plan together. 

On the other hand, there are times that I just want to book a lot of jobs in the summer. I find the summer to be the season that you can use your creative skills the most. There are always beautiful outdoor photoshoots happening, and in the past few years summer fashion shows have gotten much more popular. It is also a great time to create a portfolio of your work. While you're on vacation, you can even take some pictures while traveling to make your photos even more intriguing. 

Even though the summer is considered the slower part of the season for most makeup artists, if you use your creativity, you can produce big ideas and really amazing work as you allow yourself to search out how you can enhance your summer while working at the same time.
